A decade-long journey transformed 157-acres of former orchards and forested slopes into a sanctuary for wildlife, a stage for contemporary sculpture, and the owner’s new home.
The gardens, a prism of horticultural artistry, reflect the facets of Czech Cubism with every turn. The Ribbon Embankment, a living sculpture, carves through the terrain, creating terraces that cradle the house and frame the pool. A birch walk, paying tribute to Warren Manning’s legacy, guides visitors to a belvedere with sweeping views, while sculptures like Tom Friedman’s “Outdoor Open Box” punctuate the meadow’s expanse.
Beyond the domestic bounds, ecological stewardship breathes new life into the meadows and woodlands. Weaving trails invite to the exploration of strategically restored habitats and outdoor sculptures that emerge from the landscape to experience the symbiosis between art and nature from the domestic precinct to Pepper-Luce Creek.
This living gallery, curated with ecological consciousness, is poised to mature into a public sculpture park. The vision extends beyond the present, preparing to gift the intertwining of art and nature to future generations, fostering an enduring conversation between humanity and the earth.
Work completed while employed at Reed Hilderbrand; Adrian Fehrmann was the Project Manager from Master Planning and Design phases through Construction Observation.
