About

Four-N (4N) stands for "fourth nature," a concept in landscape architecture that aims to enhance our daily experiences in urban environments. By rejuvenating the relationship between natural processes and the built environment, 4N fosters a deeper sense of interconnectedness.

Our work focuses on preserving the pristine and wild, highlighting our agricultural heritage, and adding beauty and joy to our surroundings. We uncover sustainability and human experience potential around infrastructures. We aim to make urban landscapes into environments where both people and non-human life can thrive. By weaving together cultural heritage and social significance with inventive, site-specific ecological solutions, we craft meaningful places that enrich their broader ecological context.

We are a newly launched small design studio based in the Boston area, working locally and abroad.

We provide full design services, from master planning and visioning to project development and construction documentation and observation. We work with individual owners, developers, cultural institutions, local and federal agencies, and other design professionals.

We have experience with college campuses, museums, public and federal facilities, waterfronts, infrastructure, urban design and streetscapes, greenroofs, residential gardens, estate planning, and art siting.
